Mark your calendars! On Saturday, October 8, 2005, the fifth annual Wish Upon a Cure® Benefit will provide an opportunity for southern Californians to enjoy a very special evening, amidst a $30 million car collection – and raise funds for the lifesaving programs of the Wish Upon a Cure® Foundation.  We’ve raised close to $250,000 in the past four years together, awarded $35,000 in research grants and established the nation’s first-ever clinical Fellowship in Mitochondrial Medicine at UC San Diego School of Medicine.

Come help us celebrate our first “Wish” coming true by welcoming Mary J. Hall Willis, M.D., Ph.D., the nation’s first-ever clinical Fellow in Mitochondrial Medicine.  Her two-year Fellowship in the Dept. of Neurosciences at UC San Diego School of Medicine was made possible solely through the generous supporters of the Wish Upon a Cure® Foundation.

Local Emmy-award winning producer and host of “Bookmark” on KOCE-TV Huntington Beach Maria Hall-Brown will host the red-carpet event.  The evening will feature a gourmet dinner presented by Teri Valentine of Taste Buds Restaurant in Toluca Lake, Calif. and will feature her award-winning Pastry Kisses.  Guests will be able to meet Dick Marconi during the evening and tour his $30 million collection of exotic and racing automobiles and motorcycles.  Casino tables of poker, blackjack and craps will help raise funds for the Foundation along with an 50-item silent auction and raffle that includes vacations in Machu Picchu, Peru, New York and Sundance, Utah and a raffle grand prize of $1,000 cash.

Tickets are available at the Patron level for $95 per person, at the Grand Patron level for $175 per person and at the Champion level for $250 per person.  Interested in attending?  Please call Jane Lehmann Shafron at (949) 770-2755 for more information and to reserve tickets.

The Wish Upon a Cure®, David P. Campbell Foundation for Pediatric Mitochondrial Disease Research is a donor-advised fund of the Orange County Community Foundation (www.oc-cf.org).
